First Impressions

First Impressions

One thing I have always been personally interested in is mailbox posts.  I guess it's because it's usually the first thing you see when you drive up to a home. It can be a very important part of the total look and curb appeal of your home. While you may not notice a plain plastic mailbox post, it's very likely you will notice when someone has dressed their mailbox post and surrounding area. You will also notice a damaged mailbox or post. That being said, I believe the mailbox post is a great opportunity to add some “love” to the total aesthetics of the house.

Although stone and brick mailbox posts do offer some character, they are usually permanent fixtures of your landscape. I prefer a wood mailbox post because it allows me the chance to change up the look from time to time with paint, ornamental iron, or new landscaping. For instance, I love the look of our black iron or steel products set against a wood grain. There are just so many opportunities to be crafty and creative with a wood mailbox post that are certain to catch the eye of every passer-by.

When our kids were young we lived in a rural area, so giving good directions to other parents bringing their kids to visit could mean the difference between them finding our house or driving a mile down the road and turning around because they missed our house. So I always made our mailbox post the focal point when giving directions to our home. Now I know what everyone is thinking... but this was before cell phones and map apps were a household staple. The point is, they remembered our mailbox post as much as they remembered our house.

I have had a lot of positive feedback from customers regarding the many compliments they received after adding a Madison Iron and Wood mailbox dress kit to their posts. So, it's a proven fact: people do take notice. Whether it be a full dress kit or a simple house number set, Madison Iron and Wood is here for you. We strive to be unique, so you know when you're looking at our products, you're looking at out of the ordinary creations that ensure your purchase will be extraordinary.

So, if you want to add a little flare to your home, start with the mailbox post. You'll be glad you did! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

You got THAT right, about first impressions. In my subdivision everyones mailbox is soooooo boring, including mine. Im about to change that, though. I just received the fleur de lis set of hardware for mailboxes and will soon be the envy of all the neighborhood. The rest of the property has been coming together with the tuscan theme I have going, and will soon be near complete when I get my fleur de lis mail box assembled and installed. I can finally be proud of even my mailbox for once rather than it ruining the look of whats beyond it. :)
